Advanced technology schools in Syria to start with AI and cybersecurity
The first three schools open in Damascus, Homs and Aleppo, with classes starting in early November.
Syria's Ministry of Education has announced details of the Advanced Technology Schools under the National Advanced Technology Track, and has opened applications for first-year secondary entry for the 2026-2027 school year. The first three schools are in Damascus, Homs and Aleppo. They offer six specializations in two tracks.
The digital track covers artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and advanced software engineering. The industrial track covers smart manufacturing, industrial robotics and smart energy. The ministry said each school has 100 seats, 300 in total, with 50 seats in the digital track and 50 in the industrial track at each school.
Applicants must have an average of at least 85 percent in the basic education certificate and must pass the unified national standardized test. Registration is online through the ministry's admission portal from the morning of Tuesday 13 October 2026 until the end of the working day on Saturday 17 October 2026, and each applicant may choose only one school.
The test is set for Tuesday 20 October 2026 at designated centers and lasts two hours. The final score is 40 percent basic education average and 60 percent test score, and only students who pass the test are ranked. Admission lists will be published on the ministry's platform, with a 15 percent reserve list for each specialization.
The schools rest on Presidential Decree No. 183 of 2026, which created the National Advanced Technology Track under the supervision of the Ministries of Education and of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Classes are due to start in early November, according to the announcement.
