1,024 students sit admission test for the Advanced Technology track
The ministry will select 300 of them, and the track has started in Damascus, Homs and Aleppo with a plan to expand next year.
The Ministry of Education held the national standardized admission test for the Advanced Technology track on Tuesday, with 1,024 students taking part. The ministry will select 300 of them to join the track, and results are due on the evening of next Thursday.
Education Minister Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turko told SANA during an inspection tour of the exam centers that the track has started in the governorates of Damascus, Homs and Aleppo. He said there is a plan to expand horizontally by adding new governorates next year, and vertically by increasing the number of admitted students.
Deputy Education Minister for Vocational Education Mohammad Ghaith Barhani said the test mirrors the sample model the ministry made available to students about a week earlier, to familiarize them with the nature of the questions and how to answer them. He said the test includes about 24 questions measuring logical and mathematical analysis and intelligence, six questions on computers and the students' knowledge of them and of the internet, and five questions each in mathematics and physics.
Student Rahaf Hassan, one of the test takers, said she was satisfied with the level of the questions, which she described as suitable for different levels, and that she had done well.
President Ahmed al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 183 of 2026 on 7 October, establishing the 'National Advanced Technology Track' under the supervision of the ministries of Education and Higher Education, in coordination with other relevant ministries. Admission to these schools takes place annually by decision of the Minister of Education, under two main conditions: passing the basic education certificate or its equivalent, and passing a standardized national test.
