Syria is back on the world's technology and business map

Admission Competition Opens for 300 Seats in Advanced Technology Schools

Applications are open online at ats.moed.gov.sy until 17 October, and the national standardized test is on 20 October for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Ministry of Education announced that applications are open for the admission competition to advanced technology schools in Damascus, Aleppo and Homs, for entry to the first secondary grade in the advanced technology track for the 2026-2027 school year. The announcement follows decision No. (943-2423), which the ministry published on its official Telegram channel. Applications run from 13 to 17 October.

The decision sets the number of seats at 300 across Syria, split equally with 100 seats in each school in Damascus, Aleppo and Homs. Each school offers 50 seats in the digital advanced technology specialization and 50 in the industrial advanced technology specialization, spread over two classes for each specialization.

Applicants must hold the basic education certificate, the religious preparatory certificate or an equivalent for the 2025-2026 school year, with an average of at least 85 percent of the total. They must also pass the unified national standardized test. The minimum is set at 70 percent for returning students who studied curricula in a language other than Arabic for at least the seventh and eighth grades abroad.

Applications are submitted only through the admission portal for the national advanced technology track on the ministry's official electronic platform, until the end of working hours on Saturday 17 October. The student or their legal guardian enters the required data and attaches the documents electronically, choosing one school only. The application is final once the 'registered' notification is received. Holders of a non-Syrian basic education certificate and returning students covered by the special average condition register on paper at the directorates of education.

The centrally automated national standardized test takes place on Tuesday 20 October at 2 pm and lasts two hours. The final score is calculated at 40 percent for the basic education average and 60 percent for the test. Lists of successful students are published on the ministry's electronic platform, with a reserve list of 15 percent for each specialization.

President Ahmed al-Sharaa issued decree No. (183) of 2026 on 7 October, establishing the national advanced technology track under the supervision of the ministries of Education and of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The track starts at secondary level and extends to applied and research-based university education.
